NEW YORK, June 12 (Xinhua) -- Jin Liwu, the owner of Golden City Supermarket in Flushing of New York, has once and again fortified his long-standing love for traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) as all his family members have fully recovered from COVID-19 after taking the TCM decoction prepared by Deyutang, a New York-based TCM clinic that excels in the fight against the pandemic.
What made Jin happier was that a dozen of his infected townsmen from Wenzhou, east China's Zhejiang Province, also recovered after taking Deyutang's medicine, prepared by soaking and decocting the slices or coarse granules of medicinal materials with water, and removing the dregs for a liquid dosage.
Deyutang comprises three clinics within walking distance in Flushing. They are respectively owned by Cheong Tak Chio, Zhang Weichao, and Zhang Zongming. The clinic has helped locals in New York and other Americans in neighboring U.S. states conquer the virus.
The treatment of such epidemic as COVID-19 -- typically with TCM decoction and acupuncture treatment -- has become an eye-opener for many Americans of different nationalities.
"Any song or symphony is composed of seven notes," said Cheong Tak Chio. "The beauty of the music comes from a kaleidoscope of combinations of the seven notes."
"In the same vein, TCM makes even more complex combinations with hundreds of herbs, each of which has a clinical effectiveness. The dialectical composition of them can help cure the most stubborn ailments in the world," said Cheong Tak Chio.

In a Deyutang clinic owned by Cheong Tak Chio's younger brother Zhang Weichao, the drug-decocting machine has not ceased working over the past 16 months since the outbreak of COVID-19 in the United States.
"We decoct anti-virus medicinal herbs day and night, in order to meet the huge demand," said Zhang Weichao.
He estimated that several thousand people have consulted with Deyutang about how to avoid being infected, and soon after the outbreak of the pandemic in New York, Deyutang had lost no time to put into use the "Anti-Epidemic No. 1" and the "Lung Clearing and Detoxification Decoction" to either help uninfected people prevent infection or cure infected patients.
A 63-year-old lady surnamed Lao from Brooklyn, New York told Xinhua that she was excited that Deyutang's decoction had helped her overcome the coronavirus variant first identified in Britain, which was transmitted to her by one of her friends.
"Traditional Chinese medicine is absolutely amazing," she said.
Bill Pardalls, a neighbor and also patient of Cheong Tak Chio's, said he has developed new thought and views about TCM after seeing so many COVID-19 patients recover after receiving TCM treatment.

Pardalls receives regular acupuncture treatment from Cheong Tak Chio and has become a firm supporter of TCM as "TCM really works wonders."
Deyutang said about 10 percent of the COVID-19 patients who have taken Deyutang's anti-epidemic decoction are non-Chinese Americans.
"I feel proud that I could help the American people to combat the epidemic with TCM," said Zhang Zongming, the son of Cheong Tak Chio's second eldest brother and the owner of the third Deyutang clinic.
Zhang Zongming told Xinhua that one American of Indian origin had been sent to a local hospital's emergency ward but recovered completely after taking Deyutang's decoction.
The lady, who asked to remain anonymous, said "it is the traditional Chinese medicine that has saved my life."
Cheong Chong Keng is the elder son of Cheong Tak Chio and also a promising young plastic surgeon. Most of the time, he works in the Chinese mainland and Macao. After seeing how Americans seemed to take interest in TCM, he made the decision to launch his own clinic in New York.

"The pandemic has completely changed my view towards TCM, especially after I saw with my own eyes that so many American people have benefitted from TCM," he said.
Cheong Chong Keng told Xinhua that he wants to learn more from his father, who is dubbed "Magic Acupuncturist Cheong."
"I'm so proud of the traditional Chinese medicine, my family members as well. I hope I could catch up," he said.
Cheong Tak Chio said more and more people have begun showing interest and confidence in TCM, as it treats patients "from a systematic perspective."
The performance of TCM in the fight against COVID-19 and its treatment of some obstinate and complicated diseases has greatly touched the heart of Cheong Chong Keng, who has already purchased a TCM clinic.
"I want to run the fourth Deyutang clinic, but I will make it a combo of both TCM and modern medical science," said Cheong Chong Keng.
