Thank you for you taking the time to review our application for purchase the Unit 231,
I and my wife are from China, We have married for nearly 50 years and have a son. In China, I graduated from graduate school in a famous university (Fudan University), then became a professor in another famous university (Shandong University) for 10 years.
In 1998 I came US as a visiting scholar to the University of Louisville (U of L), Kentucky. My wife and son joined me in 1999. Later in the U of L, I turned into advance study toward to PhD majoring in urban affairs and obtained a PhD in 2004.
We came Flushing in 2006, and I have worked as editor of SingTao Daily, vice manager/editor of the Wall Street Times, and editor of the Flushing Times. My wife worked in hotel and now retired. Our son graduated from New York Pace University Law School and is now an associate at a Flushing law firm. He has his own residence.
I am currently working 3 jobs: front desk in Stanton Norfolk Inc-One Flushing Building (full time, 2023 W2 $47,531), Chinese interpreter for the Board of Elections in the City of New York (part time, 2023W2 $2,785), and editor in American Chinese Life Network (part time, 2023 1040SRSelf-Employment Tax Schedule SE $10,417). Now I am in good health and plan to delay retirement.
We have a life savings of about$290,000, which was lent to our son in 2018 to buy an apartment for his marriage, but it was not used. Recently it was transferred back to our name for us to buy a co-op apartment. I also have a retirement saving of $ 102,933 in my employer-sponsored tax-deferred 403baccount. The board can be confident that we are financially able and personally equipped to be a cooperative shareholder.
Living here for many years, we like Flushing’s convenience, diversity and prosperity, and hopeto retire here and spend our old age. We have known about the Barbizon building for a long time. We often walked by your building and are drawn to its excellent location, magnificent appearance, beautiful style, and unique structure, and dreaming of living here in the future. We were overjoyed that an apartment was available when came time for our search. Especially, following our tour, comfortable interior, friend neighbors, careful management, responsible doorman services exceeded our expectations. Also the current owner‘s careful maintenance is a huge bonus, allowing us to move in with no additional work done on the apartment.
